Basic Version:
- 1 (8-12 oz) wheel of Brie cheese
- ¼ cup jam of choice (fig, raspberry, apricot, or cranberry work well)
- 2 tablespoons chopped nuts (optional, such as pecans or walnuts)
- 1 teaspoon honey (optional, for extra sweetness)
- Crackers, sliced baguette, or apple slices (for serving)
Puff Pastry Version (Optional):
- 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed, if frozen)
- 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon butter (melted, for brushing)
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Assemble the Brie:
- Place the Brie wheel on the prepared baking sheet.
- Spread jam evenly over the top of the Brie.
- Sprinkle with chopped nuts and drizzle with honey if using.
For the Puff Pastry Version (Optional):
- If using puff pastry, place the brie in the center of the pastry sheet. Fold the pastry over the Brie, trimming excess pastry if needed. Pinch the edges to seal.
- Brush the puff pastry with the beaten egg to give it a golden color when baked.
3. Bake the Brie:
- If baking without puff pastry, place the Brie in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, until soft and gooey.
- If baking with puff pastry, bake for 20-25 minutes, until the pastry is golden brown.
4. Serve Immediately:
- Let the Brie cool for 5 minutes before serving.
- Serve with crackers, sliced baguette, or apple slices.
