Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour for a nuttier flavor)
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (or melted butter)
- ½ cup water
- 1 teaspoon honey (optional, for a hint of sweetness)
Optional Flavor Additions:
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary, thyme, or oregano
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, flaxseeds, or poppy seeds
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder or onion powder
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Make the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder.
- Add the olive oil, water, and honey (if using), then mix until a dough forms.
- If adding herbs or seeds, knead them into the dough at this stage.
3. Roll Out the Dough:
- Lightly flour a surface and roll the dough out as thin as possible (about 1/16 inch). The thinner the dough, the crispier the crackers.
- Use a pizza cutter or knife to cut the dough into squares, rectangles, or any shape you like.
4. Bake the Crackers:
- Transfer the crackers to the prepared baking sheet.
- Prick each cracker with a fork to prevent puffing.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
5. Cool and Store:
- Let the crackers cool completely before serving.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
