Whether you’re making it for a family dinner or a casual gathering, this easy dessert is guaranteed to be a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale

Cherry Filling:

  • 4 cups pitted cherries (fresh or frozen, thawed and drained)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar (adjust if using very sweet cherries)
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Crisp Topping:

  • ¾ cup rolled oats
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking dish (or similar size).
  2. Prepare Filling: In a large bowl, toss cherries with sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Pour cherry mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  3. Make Topping: In a separate bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Stir in melted butter until the mixture forms a crumbly texture.
  4. Assemble: Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the cherry filling.
  5. Bake: Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  6. Cool & Serve: Let cool for 5-10 minutes before serving. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

  • Use tart cherries for a tangy flavor, or sweet cherries if you prefer a milder taste.
  • Add chopped nuts like almonds or pecans to the topping for extra crunch.
  • This recipe works with other fruits too — try blueberries, peaches, or mixed berries!

  • Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
